Curriculum:


Queen of Peace Catholic School offers a rich and challenging curriculum to students beginning in Pre-Kindergarten and continuing through Grade 8.  We utilize the curriculum of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, which is based on the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS).  Our school is fully accredited through the Texas Catholic Conference Education Department.  The TCCED is recognized by the Texas Education Agency which is responsible for the accreditation process for Catholic Schools in Texas.  We are also members of the National Catholic Education Association (NCEA).



Morning Procedures


Students may be dropped off in the main parking lot next to the gym (facing I-45) between 7:30 A.M. and 8:00 A.M.  Cars will enter from Burwell Street and exit onto Oakcliff Street.  Parents who will be staying for any reason should park in the lot on Oakcliff Street (across from the school).  This is the only place to park during school hours. 

Any student arriving after 8:00 A.M. must be accompanied by a parent/guardian to the school office and receive a tardy slip for class.



Dismissal Procedures


Early Childhood:  Pre-K3, Pre-K4, Kindergarten and 1st grade dismissal is from 2:50-3:00 P.M. 

Elementary:  2nd, 3rd, 4th and 5th grade dismissal is from 3:00-3:15 P.M. 

Students will be dismissed by their teachers in the center parking lot.  Parents should remain in their vehicles to pick up their children.  For safety reasons, no parent will be allowed to walk up to the dismissal area to pick up their child.

Middle School:  6th, 7th and 8th grade dismissal is from 3:15-3:30 P.M.

Students will be dismissed by their teachers in the gym parking lot (facing I-45).  Parents should remain in their vehicles to pick up their children.  For safety reasons, no parent will be allowed to walk up to the dismissal area to pick up their child.

For the safety of our students, the office doors will be closed from 2:15 P.M. - 3:15 P.M.

If you need to visit the office, please wait until 3:15 P.M.



Misc. Information


Inclement Weather In the event of rain during morning drop-off, the center parking lot will be open for parking and drop-off.  In addition, the gym emergency side door (facing I-45) will be opened.
                                 

School Closing: We will follow Houston ISD's decisions to cancel classes due to weather.


Mass Days:  The school office will be closed from 8:15 A.M. - 9:30 A.M. on all Mass days in order for faculty and staff to attend Mass.  If you are tardy on Mass days, please walk your child to the back entrance of the church and direct them to his or her class.


UniformsStudents must be in full uniform on the first day of school.  If a student does not have the proper uniform, teachers will follow the disciplinary procedure found in the student handbook.

Lunch Program:  Lunch is provided by J&N Catering.  We do not offer a breakfast program.  Please make sure your child eats a healthy breakfast before coming to school!
